‘Beautifully written, descriptive and emotive’ Review by Tanya | Pages To Be Read
REVIEW 🌻
📗Synopsis: Monterini, Italy. Yacobo Levi, an intellectual dreamer, and Angelo Ghione, a contadino farmer are best friends. Their Jewish and Catholic families love side by side amidst a backdrop of village communal life, Etruscan tales and the rise of Benito Mussolini. Born on the same day, their children Bella and Rico, grow up and fall in love. With the declaration of the racial laws in 1938, tensions simmer beneath the surface of love and friendship. When war is finally declared, their peaceful village is torn apart and life will never be the same again.
📘Review: This is my third book tour with @reddoorbooks and so far, their books have been amazing. This novel by @amandaweinbergauthorcertainly comes under that description. This book is beautifully written, descriptive and emotive. You really can picture the families, their lives, their surroundings and when things evolve in this story, you feel like you’re in it with them. I love the historical fiction genre, but I’ve not read much regarding Italy and the impact of Mussolini and the eventual Nazi take over - I will be reading more! This book is up there in my top reads of this year. It’s out now - go and get yourself a copy! 💛📚🌸
